This summer I took my holidayes with my brother Alex. Alex has creative character so every time he turns me to do something on the seashore (our Bulgaia sculptures here 2a.ru/2AArchive(1998-2000)/anna/sandscul/index.htm ) That time he also wants to create! smile

The point is there in no sand. Corfu has sand beaches but here we have stones only. So it was a kind of challenge for us to think what exactly we can do with that matherials: small, middle and big stones.

Alex found something like sand - a mix from tiny stones so he bring it to the plase of middle stones we chose for our picture. Then I did the frame from big stones with a "sand" of little stones inside. We wet it with sea water to make the differencies in shadows, you can see it on the picture. Wet part looks more dark.

Alex wants to create something with fishes, human and sun. So I did it.

A person in the picture seemed not very happy so we decided it was because of scary fishes. Alex wanted to make a secret how many fishes pictured here.

Really impressive face! smile smile smile

This is the reason for impression! smile smile smile

The full picture was about 110 X 180 cm and pay attention from tourists of our beach. I have no ideas did they find all 9 fishes or not.

At the end I used my brush to make a sign on the stone.

While we created the stone-picture the sea become choppy, and I drew it.

More and more waves was coming that everning.

At the rest of the day big waves licked our picture and intermixed it with sea water, sand and stones as it was before our action.

So it was the full cycle of creation, from chaos to order and back. What a nice day it was!

The sea for today

I am lazy, extremely lazy that summer. Even if I do paintings I am lazy to make posts or downloat the pictures so feel a bit guilty about it. This is my happy life on Corfu so this is clear: to be involve in art and to growth as an artist you have to be unhappy, better suffering or in pain… because in happiness people became relaxible. So I am relaxable here smile

I am on Corfu now

This is the time to be happy and involve in natural sea life. I am swimming, sleeping on my favourite stones in the sea, listening sounds of nature, doing yoga before the sunrise. I am happy to see the green-geen sea, to make sketches, to feel how rocks growth.

My diet: Corfu cocktail

Different coctails and smoothy is an important part of my diet. Being a strict vegeterian I have to design something eatable from local products by myself and so be independent.

On Corfu I did a delicious smoothy in my portable blender. Local fruits of Corfu is very nice, fresh just from trees and it`s fragrance made bouquet to smoothy. Well, my favourite smoothy includes 1 green apple, 1 orange, about 150 ml of water, 2 big spoons of soya milk powder, several leafs of mint, 3 spoons of honey and 1\2 big greece lemon (I like it with skin).

My portable blender is not very powerful so it is important to cut all fruits (especially apple) into small pieces.

Corfu is well known place of kumkvat fabrics makes liqueur. I can`t drink an alchogol and so could make only a glance  towards such product

Small blender works slowly and I have to stop it several time to have a rest.

As I like smoothy more smoothy I did it until it became soft and light.

On the last step I realized that forget the last ingredient - a green melon. It`s no problem! I ate it too! smile

So… Now this is dark, wet and windy in Moscow. But I do the same coctail and dreames about the warm sea and lemons on trees.

Corfu, Paleocastriza, sketches

Hello everybody! Now I am nearly get enough sleep and ready to make something heroic, for example to clear up my work place anf files. Here it is a sketch I made in Paleokastriza, Corfu.

Sketches is really good thing to fix your feelings during travelling. Your hand and your heart working together could make literary doors to remembering, reliving. As you stay in a place you can do a sketch with strokes only by pencil or another tool. As I like chinese styles includs calligraphy I use a brush with ink. So the first step of sketch looks like that:

It`s enough for remembering and after strikes-sketch I dropped it and swam in beloved sea. Then it was a long walking back to Liapades and next day I continued painting. This is the second step.

As I painted green trees etc it was more clear what another strikes could make the picture more detailed.

Than I colored mountings and sky, and made shadows to create lively moving picture. If a painter want to paint in natural colors you could be disappointed. Everything will look boring. Naturallu mountings of Corfu is not yellow. But my feelings of that place is another. I can feel-see in colors the power of the rocks and grass and the picture is the mirror of my feelings. So here it is.

If you want to sketch something you should  release youself and let colors speaks with the music of life. If it is duet with your own heart-feelongs and the voice of nature around you, the picture is true and you can feel God over it.

Remember the sea

Today is a gap between yesterday 6-hours lectures and the same tomorrow and even at Saturday. Too many students swarms around me wanted to affirm themes of their graduation works, to many calls and e-mails… It made me crazy. So I meditate to deep green and blue sea, remember how it shining and how the rocks grows.

That sketch I made sitting in Xenia cafe, Paleokastriza. This is so beautiful peaceful place with crystal sea seems as a green glass I love… I saw people jumped from the rocks and did the same. It was the rock about 3 m height (at the left side of the sketch, in the middle). It was so… so strange. I had never done it before, my maximum height was 1,5 m.  The point is to jump from 1,5 or 3m is completely the same. Only to have a courage and make the first step. I felt jump as a long moment, but not for my own movement. It seemed as the media - rocks, air and water - changed as floors in a building…

My consciousness was the same - bright point still and the world moved around. It was peripheral feeling how sea huged my body, how green water passed my body through and touched everywhere. ater I saw several Italiand guys jumped from about 7-10 m rocks at the right side of the bay (see it on sketch below). Sure I will do it next summer.

As I remembered the sea I felt a strong desire to paint. But it is the pressure of time!  Again pressure of time… But I need to do something with colors.

So I risked and imbued in sea colors my silk bed-clothes. The result is great! Why I didn`t do it before? It`s really beautiful - natural silk gently plays from emerald-green to blue. So today and in nearest future I will sleep covering with sea waves.

My work place, Corfu

Today it was a strange mix of hard work (6 hours of lectures and no time to break), heavy clouds and as the end of the hard weeka piece of fire red sky I saw before the sunrise. It was amazing light, a breath of fresh nature and suddenly I remember how I worked at Corfu that summer.

It was something special. Being in full relaxation I painted by both hands. The sketch by brush and black ink  I did at Paleokastritza and made it colored at the hotel.

I feel a kind of deep relaxation as I worked by left hand. I suspect the left is my principal hand but I was changed to the right in early childhood. So the right is more experianced and I can work more quickly.  Working by the left I feel a relaxation and deep existence of the process and feel it more deeply. So the possibility to work by both hands for me is the kind of freedom.

...Several times I did the same here, at Moscow. But every time this is the pressure of time and in spite of  tension the right hand is better.  I miss my left hand writing and painting, may be it will be next week?..

The travelling Saint

As a hopeless devotee of Corfu Island I know St.Spyridon by G.Darrell book and my own experience 2009. So this news is something like St.Spyridon known as Walking Saint travels here to Moscow by himself. It seems as an old friend suddenly be our guest smile

  St Spyridon

The article by Nikita Sumerkin, from here english.ruvr.ru/2010/10/03/23713513.html

In the past week, hundreds of thousands of Russians have visited the Trinity Cathedral of St. Daniel’s Monastery in Moscow, where the relics of Saint Spyridon are currently on display.

The shrine was for the first time delivered to Moscow in 2007, when more than one million and three hundred thousand Russian believers paid tribute to the relics of a bishop-turned-saint, explained the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill. This year, he added, many braved bad weather so as to offer a prayer in front of the relics.

Saint Spyridon is widely venerated for his assistance in healing, settling family conflicts and acquiring Christian love, Patriarch Kirill said. Thousands upon thousands turned to him for help only to see their dreams finally come true, the Patriarch added, praising God’s grace that he says especially emanates from icons  and the relics of the Church-revered saints.

A saint honored in both the Eastern and Western traditions, Spyridon was born in Cyprus in 270 and was known for his great piety. He was venerated for the rare gift of clairvoyance and his ability to cure the sick by prayer. He eventually became Bishop of Tremithous and went down in history after he proved the essence of the Trinity at the First Ecumenical Council in 325.

Using a potsherd, he reportedly illustrated how one single entity could be composed of three unique entities, a metaphor for the Christian doctrine of the Trinity. As soon as Spyridon finished speaking at the Council, the shard is said to have miraculously burst into flame, water dripped on the ground, and only dust remained in his hand. After the Council, Saint Spyridon returned to his diocese in Tremithous, where he died peacefully in old age. When the Arabs took Cyprus in the middle of the 7th century, Spyridon’s body was disinterred and taken to Constantinople.  It was at the time that the relics were found to be incorrupt which prompted many to believe in his being a saint.

The shrine will stay in Moscow till October 6th and is then to be transferred to St.Petersburg. On October 15th, the relics of Saint Spyridon will be delivered to the Greek island of Corfu, where they have been preserved since the late 1980s.
